Many people have asked me about the PMI New Media Council meetings. The NMC was established in 2008 by a group that includes bloggers, podcasters, and other online folk who PMI describes as ‘influential voices.
We have come together as an advisory and soundingboard for PMI. We are not paid by PMI (although they did fund my trip to Congress) but we can advocate for them. I thought I’d share what we discussed at our meeting yesterday.
We had a new member join us so Andrew shared his background and the work that he is doing for Wrike.
PMI HQ was visited by Etienne Wenger, a highly influential man in the worlds of communities of practice. He gave them some tips on how to get the most out of their CoP initiative and recorded an interview with Brantlee Underhill from PMI, which you can view on YouTube.
We also did a round the table update on what each NMC member is doing. There are many great things happening:
Cornelius and Josh started a podcast called Not the Status Report. Are you able to identify the person who introduces?
Andrew is preparing to announce the winner in his 33 blogs competition. The results will be available within the next week.
Chalyce has been exploring the complexities of knowledge management.
Bas and Josh started a podcast called “What’s Up in Project Management” and Bas also launched Project Potion, a new vodcast with Dave Prior. Dave’s October Congress presentation on PM mashups was one of my favorites.
Jerry is podcasting and working hard at The Creating We Institute. He has a book with the most amazing title in the works – it is still being developed, but I look forward buying one.
Josh has launched his WBS Coach Training (and I am happy to be one of the first affiliates).
Aren’t you a team? Being part of this group is one of the best parts. I get to talk to other people who face the same work challenges. There was some competition on the call about who worked the longest. Andrew was the winner, but that’s probably not a good thing.
